North Portland’s Delta Park Shelter Opens, Offering New Hope to the Homeless With Wraparound Services

Multnomah County has opened the Delta Park Shelter in North Portland, a converted motel providing support for people experiencing homelessness. The 60-room, 24-hour facility is managed by Sunstone Way and funded through the Supportive Housing Services Measure and the Homeless Services Department. The shelter offers a range of services designed to help residents stabilize, recover, and move toward permanent housing, according to Multnomah County.

Multnomah County reported that Wes, who has used homeless services for more than 15 years, has stayed at the Delta Park Shelter. He said the shelter provided support suited to his needs and helped him move toward stable housing. Wes has previously stayed in shelters, sober living facilities, and jail.

Wes has previously stayed at Sunstone Way shelters, where he received support from staff that helped him find more stable living arrangements. Ndem Nkem, the behavioral health lead at the Delta Park Shelter, has been involved in supporting Wes’s transitions between housing programs.
