Woman, 85, dies 2 weeks after car crash with suspended driver

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – An 85-year-old woman who was injured in a two-car crash in late August died from her injuries two weeks later, according to Portland police.

The crash on NE Airport Way took place on Aug. 22 around 1:30 p.m. when a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe driver lost control of his vehicle and hit a 2021 Kia Soul head-on.

Ruthellen Tromsness of Gresham had been driving the Kia and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Officials said there was “no indication that her injuries were life threatening,” but learned that she died on Sept. 9.
