Power restored for thousands after trees fall on power lines during atmospheric river

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Thousands were without power Tuesday morning as outages impacted parts of western Oregon and southwest Washington during an atmospheric river.

As of 1 p.m.., Portland General Electric is reporting 29 active outages and 591 impacted customers. This is a major reduction from the 5,000 customers impacted Tuesday morning, including 1,600 just northwest of Oregon City. The cause of the outage was a tree on a power line, according to PGE’s outage map.
