20 drug-endangered children cases dropped after Oregon appeals court ruling: DA

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — After her 3-year-old daughter tested positive for meth, a Portland woman was charged with first-degree criminal mistreatment for allegedly allowing the child to live in a home with rampant drug activity.

A Hillsboro couple reportedly used drugs in front of their four children at home, which resulted in their 5-year-old testing positive for methamphetamine.

In another home, a 7-year-old described her father as “going crazy” to authorities after she said she watched him smoke methamphetamine inside their Forest Grove home. She, too, allegedly tested positive for the drug.

Each of these cases, along with 16 others that were pending, have been dropped after the Washington County District Attorney’s Office says it was forced to file for their dismissal due to a recent Oregon Court of Appeals decision…
