Foster-Powell liquor store owner badly hurt in ‘grab-and-run’

On Friday evening, October 31, at about 6:45 p.m., three youthful-looking masked men strolled into the Powell Liquor Store, on the corner of S.E. Powell Boulevard and 52nd Avenue – but they weren’t customers, they were thieves.

Security video recorded the trio entering briskly, snatching booze off shelves, jogging past the checkout counter, and athletically vaulting over the closed and locked security gate before heading out the door.

“The store’s owner followed the suspects out of the shop, and into the gravel parking lot,” Portland Police spokesperson Officer Sergeant Kevin Allen told THE BEE. “In the process of reaching into the vehicle to stop the suspects, and recover merchandise, she got dragged by the vehicle, resulting in injury,” Sergeant Allen continued. “The suspects got away; and, the case is being followed up by the Major Crimes Unit.”…
