High-speed chase ends in crash in Portland’s Lloyd District, suspect breaks iconic clock

PORTLAND, Ore. — A 49-year-old man is facing several charges, including DUI, hit-and-run, forgery and meth possession, after a high-speed chase along Interstate 84 ended with a crash in Portland’s Lloyd District on Thursday night.

The incident started at about 11 p.m. Thursday when TriMet Transit Police saw a driver going west on I-84 at over 100 mph, followed by a second driver speeding at more than 120 mph.

Transit officers followed the second car as the driver took the Lloyd Center exit. That driver, later identified as Steven Roll, initially stopped at Northeast 13th Avenue and Holladay Street…
