In a recent sting operation aimed at curbing the wave of organized retail theft, detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with local businesses in Cornelius. The mission, which unfolded on Friday, December 12, sought to pinpoint individuals involved in theft at three major retailers: Coastal Farm & Ranch, Fred Meyer, and Walmart.
According to an official release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, ten individuals found themselves in handcuffs for theft and trespassing after this cooperative effort. Collaborating closely with uniformed patrol deputies, detectives, and asset protection personnel, hundreds of dollars’ worth of goods were recovered, nabbed back from those arrested. The operation did not just target petty shoplifters; methamphetamine possession charges upped the ante for one individual swept up in the bust.
