Mass power outages around the Pacific Northwest after high winds

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Over 200,000 people are without power on Wednesday morning after high winds hit the Pacific Northwest, leading multiple school districts to close schools today.

As of 8:30 a.m., Portland General Electric is showing over 96,500 people without power from Portland down to Salem.

In a statement on the PGE website, they said they are aware of the outages and are working to assess the damage.

“High winds and weather are causing outages in the area,” the statement said. “Restoration time estimates won’t show on our outage map until a crew has assessed the damage. We’ll dispatch crews as quickly as safety allows. Check our outage map for the latest updates.”…
