Man jumps from I-205 bridge over Columbia River; fireboats rescue him

A man jumped from the I-205 bridge into the Columbia River and survived Thursday morning, officials said.

Two rescue boats, one from the Vancouver Fire Department and the other from the Port of Portland, raced to the scene, spotted the man in the water near the Glenn L. Jackson Memorial Bridge and pulled him aboard a boat at about 9:15 a.m.

Rescuers performed life-saving measures on the man, and when the boat reached Marine Park, the man was transferred to an ambulance and taken to a nearby hospital, according to officials…
