PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Just before 6 a.m., a person using the Springwater Corridor heard cries for help coming from the Willamette River. Portland Fire and Rescue says they dispatched crews on land and water to the area.
“Rescue Boat 21 was able to successfully pick up a single female from the river and deliver her to a boat ramp where the awaiting ambulance was located to transport to the hospital for elevated medical care,” Portland Fire PIO Rick Graves said. “This individual gave a shifting story to the crew about other individuals who were potentially in the water along with a claim that the sailboat was sinking.”
