Portland’s Chinatown was once America’s second-largest, buzzing with life from 1880 to 1910. Then came decline.

By the 1990s, the Lunar New Year parades had stopped, and a 150-foot dragon gifted from Taiwan in 1989 lay forgotten in a basement for 25 years.

Everything changed in 2014 when ten Chinese American elders formed the Portland Chinatown History Foundation. Two years later, they woke the sleeping dragon, named it PoChiMu, and brought the parade back to life…
