Boise-bound: Oregon-Idaho bus route relaunched by Northwestern Stage Lines

Efforts by the Oregon Department of Transportation have brought back a Portland-to-Boise bus route that was previously discontinued. As of Monday, Dec. 15, the bus is back on the road.

The inaugural ride brought an end to nearly 11 months without the route which served rural Oregon residents. The service lapsed at the beginning of 2025 when Greyhound ended the route.

To reinstate the route, the ODOT awarded Northwestern Stage Lines $600,000 from a Federal Transit Administration Intercity Bus Program grant. In a Dec. 9 press release, the ODOT cited a need for rural Oregon residents…
