Following a reported armed robbery in Southeast Portland, an individual has been apprehended after a high-speed pursuit by local law enforcement. According to the Portland Police Bureau, on Thursday at approximately 1:45 p.m., a smoke shop was held up at gunpoint, prompting an urgent police response. No physical injuries have been reported in the wake of the incident.
The police were quick to act, securing a suspect description along with details of the getaway car. Roughly 45 minutes after the initial call, a suspect vehicle caught the attention of officers near Southeast 146th Avenue and Southeast Main Street. Attempts to carry out a traffic stop were thwarted as the suspect performed an elude, triggering a chase. In their pursuit, officers sought to bring the situation to a resolution swiftly and safely.
The chase came to a conclusion at Northeast 111th Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard, where officers managed to incapacitate the suspect’s vehicle.
