Legacy urgent care workers join APP picket line in two-day strike

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — As advanced practice providers (APPs) with Legacy continue their strike, APPs from Legacy GoHealth urgent care clinics are joining the picket line in solidarity for a two-day strike starting Sunday.

Picket lines initially formed at Legacy Good Samaritan and Legacy Emanuel on Dec. 2, where APPs began to strike over patient care concerns, high turnover and pay that they claim has fallen behind other systems.

In a release, the Oregon Nurses Association, which represents more than 24,000 nurses and healthcare professionals throughout the state, said the GoHealth APPs are joining the picket line in solidarity because their work is “just as complex as that of APPs in the hospitals, but they are also paid well below market rates.”

The APPs joining Sunday’s strike outside Legacy Good Samaritan come from more than a dozen GoHealth clinics throughout the Portland metro and southwest Washington area.

“Legacy has been slow rolling our bargaining sessions. Unfortunately, we are not able to come to a consensus on a lot of the action items that we’re hoping to address,” said Lindsay Peterson, a physician associate with Legacy GoHealth.

Legacy also recently came under fire when ONA claimed the healthcare company was “escalating its intimidation” by threatening to terminate health insurance from striking APPs beginning January 2026.
