11-year-old escapes alleged kidnapping attempt in Vancouver, kicks suspect in groin and runs for help

PORTLAND, Ore. — A suspect in an alleged kidnapping attempt in Clark County got more than he bargained for when an 11-year-old girl kicked him in the groin and escaped.

According to court documents, Jerson Hartman, 31, of Twin Falls, Idaho, was wearing a ski mask when he allegedly tried to grab the girl around 5:30 p.m. Dec. 15 in a residential area of Vancouver. The girl kicked him in the groin and ran away.

Officers spoke with the girl, who said she had been playing soccer with friends when she became separated from them. She noticed Hartman walking toward her, making her feel “uncomfortable,” according to a probable cause affidavit…
