GRESHAM, Ore. (KATU) — A community center in the Rockwood neighborhood that is working to prevent youth gun violence is facing major budget cuts.
Mario Reyes is a mentor at the Hope Center. He used the center himself as a child. He says he thinks the center put him on a better path in life.
“I am 100%, like this place has helped me grow to who I am today and see past a lot of barriers that I felt like I was stuck in,” he said. “I’ve had a few friends that got in jail, prison, a couple of them stuck on drugs on the streets. So I know how hard it is to stay away from all that.”…
