Poor conditions force Mt. Hood Meadows to suspend operations

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Mt. Hood Meadows is closed Friday after a lack of new snow, melting conditions and rain damaged the snowpack, officials said.

In a Facebook post, Meadows said they will be suspending operations on Jan. 2 due to the saturation of the snowpack.

“We need to allow the water to drain from the snowpack, as operating under these conditions would cause damage and negatively impact our ability to operate in the days ahead,” the post said.
