Portland food cart up for sale as owner undergoes visa process

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — More than a month after a Portland chef was denied re-entry to the U.S., his food cart is up for sale.

In a social media post shared on Thursday, Reeva Café y Cocina a la Leña revealed it will shut down “for the foreseeable future” while owner Roberto Hernandez Guerrero remains in Mexico throughout the visa process.

Demian Hernandez, Hernandez Guerrero’s son and manager of the business on 7727 NE Sandy Blvd., previously told KOIN 6 that his father was unable to return following an interview with the U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juárez to obtain citizenship.

Hernandez said his father had lived in the U.S. for more than 20 years. The 45-year-old entrepreneur has since been separated from his wife and co-owner, young daughter and months-old son. A friend launched a GoFundMe in support of the family back in November…
