Oregon City on Alert as Cougar Sightings Near Singer Creek Park Increase

Residents of Oregon City are on alert after a cougar was sighted prowling through the neighborhood streets. The Oregon City Police Department confirmed multiple sightings of the wild cat near Singer Creek Park, based on videos captured by residential surveillance on Latourette Street. The area, nestled between Molalla Avenue and Pleasant Avenue, is on the edge of town where urban life begins to meet the dense forests of the Pacific Northwest.

In a recent statement, the police urged anyone who spots the cougar to report the incident using the CCOM non-emergency number at 503-655-8211. This collaboration between the OCPD and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) aims to fully inform and protect the community. While no direct measures are being taken to actively locate the animal, authorities are keenly monitoring the situation. According to the official announcement, locals who encounter the cougar in person are advised to immediately call ODFW at 971-673-6000 to make a detailed report.

The police department has not signaled any immediate danger to the public; however, they are advising caution, especially for those with pets.
