Driver dies, car catches fire after high speed NE Portland crash

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A driver died late Monday night after being ejected from their car following a crash, officials said.

Just before 11:30 p.m., Portland police said Port of Portland officers attempted to stop a car near Northeast Prescott Street and Northeast 116th Avenue, but the driver fled at high speed.

Officers didn’t chase the car, but monitored its location, and it was last seen driving east on Northeast Fremont Street near Northeast 112th Avenue with its headlights turned off, authorities said.
