‘This is actually good news’: Portland brewery will close one of its locations after all

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The rumors are now true: Gigantic Brewing Company is ceasing operations at one of its locations.

Murmurs about the sale of the building on 4343 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard prompted people to believe the business was closing for good in late November. Ben Love dispelled these claims, but on Friday, he and co-owner Van Havig announced the location is slated to shut down on Saturday, Jan. 24.

This will allow the beer brand to “move forward debt-free” when the sale of the Southeast Portland pub is finalized later this month, according to a release.

“For us, this is actually good news,” Havig said in a statement. “The sale places Gigantic in a very solid financial position, with more than sufficient cash resources as we move into the new year and beyond.”…
