Two displaced, cats dead after Beaverton apartment complex hit by two separate fires

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two people are without a home and two cats are dead after an apartment fire and a car fire occurred within hours of each other at the same Beaverton apartment complex Saturday morning.

According to Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, their crews responded at around 4 a.m. to reports of a fire at an apartment complex at the corner of Southwest Farmington Road and Murray Boulevard.

Officials said the fire started in the living room of a unit on the second floor.

While both residents were able to make it safety, authorities said two cats did not survive.
