A 17-year-old suspect has been linked to an October fatal shooting in the Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood.
The teenager, who was arrested during a different incident, now faces a murder charge for the killing of Andy Nguyen. The suspect’s identity is not being released at this time. The victim’s family has been notified of the development.
The Shooting
At 5:24 p.m. Saturday, October 25, Portland Police officers responded to reports of gunfire at Southeast 142nd And Division Street. Upon arrival they found Nguyen injured. Officers applied trauma first aid and summoned paramedics. Nguyen was transported to the hospital by ambulance where, despite lifesaving measures, he died.
The suspect had fled the scene prior to officers arriving, and no immediate arrests were made. Portland homicide detectives helmed the investigation.
The Arrest
At 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, Portland Police officers responded to a hit and run call in the area of Southeast 117th Avenue and Southeast Ash Street.
