With deadline looming, some residents facing eviction from Portland tiny homes speak out

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Just weeks away from potential eviction from the tiny homes they have called home for years, some residents affected by Portland’s 120-day engagement policy speak out.

“With 27,000 people on the streets, why would you want to put more out there? And especially around this time of the year, it’s not that warm out,” said Tammie Martin, one of an estimated 80 to 90 people who have been asked to leave one of the city’s Alternative Shelter Sites.

The city has eight such sites made up of tiny homes or RVs. It recently closed two. The sites are much more coveted than congregate shelter, and in September the city instated an engagement policy at those sites…
