‘Friend’ of Downtown Gresham dies from illness

Many Downtown Gresham businesses are in mourning after the death of a familiar face they collectively looked out for.

Ronald “Ronnie” Amato died Friday, Jan. 9, after being hospitalized with an illness. Cheap Charlie’s Beer and Wine Superstore, where Amato would often spend his time because of its safety and friendly staff, was the first to notice something was wrong. He was taken to the Mt. Hood Medical Center where staff made things as comfortable as possible.
