Portland Councilor Loretta Smith has voiced her concerns and offered her thoughts following a disturbing event on Monday, where two Portland Police Bureau officers were wounded in a shooting in Sullivan’s Gulch. In a statement released by the Portland government, Smith conveyed relief upon hearing that the officers were in stable condition and sent well-wishes to them and their families during the recovery process. “I will continue to monitor developments and stand with the community in calling for safety, healing, and nonviolence,” Smith said.
Recounting the details of the hectic night, reportedly, the suspect responsible for the shooting managed to elude capture after the incident and has so far remained at large. The Portland Police Bureau’s Homicide Unit is spearheading the ongoing investigation, actively following up on leads.
