Man accused of shooting Portland police officers disrupts court hearing

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – A Portland man accused of shooting two police officers during a confrontation in Northeast Portland earlier this month made his first court appearance Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Eric Floyd Oelkers, 41, opened fire on officers after they responded to a 911 call reporting a man threatening someone with a knife on Jan. 19.

According to an affidavit filed in Multnomah County court, officers were dispatched around 8:17 p.m. to the area of Northeast 21st Avenue and Northeast Wasco Street after a caller reported being threatened by a man with a knife. The caller told police the man was still in the area…
