Vancouver grade school evacuates, 5 other schools go into secure mode after swatting scare

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Vancouver Public Schools put five schools into secure mode and evacuated one more amid what the district believes were a series of swatting calls.

The swatting calls, or series of false calls, were threats that police found to be non-credible. These calls began around 11:15 a.m. and each involved threats with different kinds of violence.

“Some threatened a person was coming to the school with weapons, other calls threatened that a bomb was at the school,” VPS said in an email to parents and caretakers on Tuesday. “The calls were automated and from a blocked number.”…
