Man accused of being ‘prolific’ trailer thief arrested in Multnomah County

PORTLAND, Oregon — The Multnomah County Auto Theft Task Force has arrested a man accused of being a prolific trailer thief, with investigators saying some of the alleged crimes were committed while he was wearing a GPS monitoring device from earlier cases.

Authorities arrested 35-year-old Nickolas Edwards in mid-January after he allegedly led police on a vehicle chase while pulling a stolen trailer through Portland. Investigators and court documents say Edwards is believed to have stolen dozens of trailers across the region and then put them up for sale online.
