PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It’s now been 30 years since the devastating flood of 1996 impacted much of the Pacific Northwest.
The multi-day event caused millions of dollars worth of damage and cost eight people their lives. The flood of 1996 was known as the 100 year flood. The impacts of freezing temperatures, snow, a Pineapple Express, and warmer rains led to the destructive scenes across western Oregon and southwest Washington.
