VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) – A Vancouver family is speaking publicly for the first time, months after a hit-and-run left a father and his three young children hospitalized. They are now waiting for trial in the case involving the teen who later came forward as the driver.
Kyle Eck said the afternoon of Nov. 21 began like any other. He picked up his three children, ages 10, 7 and 6 at the time, from school and rode a city bus home. They got off at the intersection of Southeast 136th Avenue and Southeast Seventh Street.
As the family walked home, a 2007 Nissan Versa struck them and fled the scene.
“I was angry. I was mad. I was upset,” said Kaylee Johns, the children’s mother and Eck’s fiancée. “I didn’t understand how somebody could do that. With it being the time of day it was, they knew they hit somebody, let alone how many.”…
