A 56-year-old woman was sentenced Thursday to a year of probation after she pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor assault of a federal officer outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Portland.
Lisa Miyamoto struck a Federal Protective Service officer in the chest with an Irish drum known as a bodhrán after he had asked her to step out of the building’s driveway during an Oct. 19 protest.
Prosecutor Ethan Bodell and Miyamoto agreed on the sentence. Miyamoto has no prior criminal history. The assault did not cause injury to the officer and Miyamoto accepted responsibility early, Bodell wrote in a sentencing memo…
