‘Tariffs have taken a big toll’: 3 Doors Down to close due to rising costs

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An established Portland restaurant has announced it will soon be closing.

The owner of 3 Doors Down Cafe and Lounge, located near Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard and Southeast 37th Avenue, announced they’ll be closing in the next couple of months. The Italian restaurant has operated in the Rose City for more than 30 years.

Factors like rising food and maintenance costs contributed to the restaurant’s ability to stay open after several management changes.

“The cost in the last six months have gone up. Most of my food is imported from Italy and France and stuff like that. So tariffs have taken a big toll on me. Maintenance costs since the last time I owned a restaurant have doubled,” said 3 Doors Down Owner and Chef David Marth. “Basically, just every day costs have just gone through the roof.”…
