Police identified the man they shot and killed during an attempted arrest last week as a 57-year-old from Portland.
Portland police officers shot Erik D. Sherrer in his apartment in the Pearl District just before 6 a.m. on Thursday while trying to serve an arrest warrant for a prior allegation of attempted assault, they said. Sherrer was accused of attempting to shoot a security guard at a Safeway on Jan. 31.
