Hikes
Pittock Mansion
The Balch Creek Canyon is one of the most beautiful spots in the city. The transition from crowded city streets to peaceful canopied trail and flourishing canyon happens so quickly that you’ll find it hard to believe a bustling city is just steps away. From Lower Macleay Park in NW Portland, the trail parallels a creek that has the oldest Douglas fir trees in the city, and passes the Audubon Society before arriving at the Pittock Mansion. While you’re there, tour the beautifully manicured grounds, enjoy sweeping city views, and live out your Downton Abbey fantasies. Or Bridgerton if you’re feeling really frisky. 5.2-mile out-and-back hike.
