Those strolling down North Burlington Avenue in St. Johns tend to slow down when they reach Weddinglandia, the final stop along a row of coffee shops and boutiques that now fill one of the neighborhood’s oldest buildings.
Save for a heart-studded sign, its bright yellow facade is unassuming — still reminiscent of the loading dock tacked onto the end of St. Johns Hardware in the mid-1900s.
Nowadays, the 1,000-square-foot, two-story space honors a different specialty. As Portland’s only Vegas-style wedding chapel, Weddinglandia has become a go-to for couples looking to get hitched quickly, easily and without draining their savings.
