Portland police find stolen van belonging to Canadian fishing tackle vendors, but $20K in gear gone

PORTLAND, Oregon — Portland police recovered a stolen van belonging to Canadian fishing tackle vendors Sunday morning, but thieves had stripped the vehicle and taken an estimated $20,000 worth of merchandise, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Officers found the Ford E-350 van in the 9000 block of Northeast Columbia Boulevard, across from Chimney Park dog park, police said in an email. The dashboard was dismantled with damage to the ignition, according to police.

Jeff Leung, president of Westcoast Fishing Tackle, told KGW Sunday that thieves also stole the van’s catalytic converter and battery, cut the fuel line and took fuel. All the product inside was taken, leaving only empty boxes, he said…
