PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Crews are still investigating the cause of a Vancouver house fire after firefighters quickly extinguished the flames that destroyed the home’s roof on Sunday afternoon.

Just after 4 p.m., the Vancouver Fire Department responded to reports of a house on fire at 3000 NE 45th Street in Vancouver.

Crews quickly determined the column of fire and smoke had spread to the attic, so firefighters entered the structure with a hose to extinguish it. Other firefighters climbed ladders from the outside to cut holes in the roof with chainsaws to control the flames.
