PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Portland man accused of being a prolific tagger with the alias “RANGO” was arrested last week.
Portland Police announced Monday they had arrested William Patrick Matthews, 22, on Thursday in the Cedar Mill area of Washington County.

Matthews has been charged with five counts of first degree criminal mischief and three counts of second degree criminal mischief.
“Graffiti vandalism has a real impact on our neighborhoods, our small businesses, and the overall sense of community in Portland,” Portland Police Chief Bob Day said.
According to the charging document, Matthews is accused of damaging property across various locations around Portland between October 2023 and April 2025. The locations include the Highway 26 westbound tunnel, Interstate 5 northbound near Mississippi Avenue, Interstate 84 eastbound at Northeast 23rd Avenue, Interstate 5 southbound and Interstate 84 westbound, and Interstate 84 at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard…
