A 19-year-old Portland man has been indicted on manslaughter and other charges after a single-car crash earlier this month that killed a passenger in Hillsboro, police said.
Along with first-degree manslaughter, Oscar Bennett Regis faces charges of second- and third-degree assault, failure to perform duties of a driver to injured persons, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person and second-degree criminal mischief, according to court documents.
Regis allegedly was speeding at about 8:45 p.m. on Feb. 10 when he hit a light pole at the intersection of Northeast Ronler Drive and Century Boulevard in Hillsboro, causing the car to spin “across the sidewalk curb and come to a stop in a patch of grass,” the Hillsboro Police Department said in a statement…
