Customer at iconic Portland lounge cracks employee’s teeth after food order mix-up, prosecutors say

A customer cracked an employee’s teeth at a well-known Northeast Portland bar, moments after her mother and a man allegedly helped her assault a security guard there, prosecutors say.

Marchelle Quiana Swafford, 30, is accused of first-, second- and third-degree assault in the alleged attacks on Oct. 11, 2025, at the Sandy Hut Bar & Lounge, according to court records. Portland Police Bureau spokesperson Mike Benner told The Oregonian/OregonLive that the incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. but said it happened on Oct. 10, not Oct. 11.

Prosecutors are also accusing Swafford’s mother — Nikiesha Monicks Young, 49 — and Daniel J. Jones, 54, of third-degree assault, allegedly for helping Swafford attack a security guard at the dive bar, a Portland tippler staple since the 1920s…
