Oregon man high on LSD texted 911 he was ‘stuck in a dream’ after killing wife

A Beaverton man who fatally shot his wife at close range while in a surreal state of intoxication was sentenced to 20 years in prison Tuesday.

Talon G. Mitchell pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter for shooting his wife, Mona Chopheng, as part of a deal with Washington County prosecutors.

Mitchell, now 23, sent a series of all-caps messages to 911 around 10:15 p.m. Feb. 24, 2023, claiming he was “stuck in a dream” and “being controlled,” according to an unsealed search warrant affidavit…
