What to expect from the three-day atmospheric river hitting Oregon this week

PORTLAND, Ore. — A three-day stretch of rain, wind and mountain snow is expected to move into Oregon this week, bringing several inches of rainfall to parts of the state and potentially causing ponding on roads and rising river levels.

Meteorologist Rod Hill said the system started to arrive Tuesday, but Wednesday through late Friday are expected to be the worst before conditions dry out heading into the weekend.

It’s possible that this will be the wettest week in Portland so far this winter, surpassing the atmospheric rivers in December. Up to 4 inches of rain total could fall in Portland if the storm tracks directly over the city…
