Sandy Hut Dust-Up: Portland Trio Charged After Server’s Jaw Left Shattered

A mixed-up food order at northeast Portland’s Sandy Hut did not end with a comped plate or an apology. Prosecutors say it erupted into a full-on bar brawl last October, leaving a server with a broken jaw and eight fractured teeth and turning a neighborhood standby into a temporary crime scene.

According to court documents reported by KOIN, the suspects are identified as 30-year-old Marchelle Quiana Swafford, her mother, 49-year-old Nikiesha Monicks Young, and 54-year-old Daniel Jones Jr. Prosecutors allege all three face third-degree assault charges for attacking the bar’s security guard, while Swafford is also charged with first- and second-degree assault tied to the server’s injuries.

Investigators say the confrontation started when the group complained about a wrong food order and began yelling at the bartender. A security guard stepped in to escort them outside, where things allegedly got worse. One witness told police the trio were “wailing on him,” and court papers accuse Swafford of striking an employee in the mouth with a can of pepper spray, knocking him unconscious and leaving his jaw and multiple teeth fractured, as reported by KOIN…
