PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — After days of rain, the Pacific Northwest is still in recovery mode from flooding that has caused mudslides, evacuations and highway closures.
Even as the weather has gotten drier and milder on Saturday, compared to days before, some homes are still being impacted by the shifting earth.

In Portland, crews are getting to work clearing out the mud from a landslide near Northwest Rio Vista Terrace and Northwest Monte Vista Terrace. The area appears to be the backyard of a private residence. The mud is blocking the road that leads to at least seven homes, according to neighbors.
“It didn’t surprise me at all in this, Portland State geologist once described the West Hills as, he said, ‘Imagine a rock with a blanket on it. And then you just pull the blanket of mud, all the blanket off,’” said Tom Dehem, a Northwest Portland neighbor. “He said those houses were popping off, and so, like fleas off a dog’s back.”…
