Amy Madigan, actress with ties to Portland, wins Oscar for best supporting actress for role in “Weapons”

LOS ANGELES — Amy Madigan, a trustee at Reed College in Portland, won the Academy Award for best supporting actress Sunday night for her portrayal of Aunt Gladys in the horror film “Weapons.”

Madigan won the prize at the 98th Annual Academy Awards. She had been nominated for the Oscar for best supporting actress heading into Sunday’s ceremony.
