Emergency crews closed a portion of Northwest Cornell Road on Monday afternoon after a landslide caused a sinkhole, shutting down a key route between Portland and Washington County for several days.
The Portland Bureau of Transportation closed the road to all travel between Northwest Thompson Road and Skyline Boulevard. Local access to homes and businesses will be maintained, but travelers should avoid the area and expect delays on surrounding roads.
Conditions deteriorated rapidly over the weekend. Crews first closed the shoulder Friday after a landslide deposited debris along the roadway.
