PORTLAND, Ore. — The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office has settled a lawsuit alleging that protesters arrested during a 2024 demonstration were forced to remove their hijabs during the booking process, in a manner contrary to their religious beliefs.
MCSO on Thursday shared a special order changing its booking policies and procedures in accordance with the settlement, though the order went into effect Jan. 26.
