Poorly-maintained car crashes on 82nd – driver vamooses

No one saw the crash take place on Thursday evening of February 5th, but several people in the area said they sure heard it – metal grinding, crunching, and smashing on S.E. 82nd Avenue of Roses, right at Malden Court.

What they heard was a single car smashup that left the car on its top, lying on the sidewalk. What they didn’t hear was any sound of tires screeching on pavement before the crash, suggesting either that the brakes hadn’t worked, or they hadn’t been used, prior to the crash itself.

East Precinct officers were dispatched at 7:23 p.m. – with officers arriving shortly after Woodstock Fire Station 25’s Engine Company got there and extinguished a small fire in overturned vehicle…
