PORTLAND, Ore. — High gas prices are taking a bite out of Oregon’s seafood industry, increasing costs for businesses and raising concerns about potential supply shortages.
Transporting fresh seafood from the coast requires significant fuel, and those rising costs are now being passed along to distributors and retailers. At Flying Fish Company in Portland, Chef Erik Englund said suppliers have been warning of new fuel surcharges.
